The region of Leon in northern Spain is an historic region that once
thrived until its almost disappearance in the latter part of the 20th
century HOWEVER, its recent revival is very promising The region's  grape is PRIETO PICUDO, an intense, thick-skinned powerful grape that produces wonderful rich reds This local grape can only be found in the southern part of LEON, The unique thing about this region is how the vines grow, They grow along the ground with the head of the vine under the surface The high altitude with harsh winters and hot summers that are marked by occasional strong winds have lead the grape to seek refuge along the surface of the vineyard in search of protection
